Continuous GUI design boosts online donations

  • Donating online has become an increasingly popular fundraising source because of its low overhead costs and high potential of reaching large population. The typical interface for online donation let donors choose among discrete options: e.g., $10, $20, $50, $100…, along with a text box in case that the donor would like to choose a different amount. We propose that a continuous interface in which the discrete options are replaced by a single slider may work better at helping the donors find their desired donation amounts, and resulting in higher donation amounts.
